He did it because he doesn't like you.

Surely it's not an unfamiliar reaction!
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade doesn't like me because I pointed out the irony of spouting crap while having a profile pic of a lefty
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 Gee, maybe he likes his ability and passion and gives little thought to lefty bullshit. Maybe performers don't have to fit in a mindless political box for him to like
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade the clashs music was about spreading socialism and they supported causes such as rock against racism. That was their whole passion and weren't subtle about it. They were a definite political band
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 are you seriously attempting to Clashsplain me? I have seen them 6 times and own everything they put out
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade so you ignore the lyrics then?
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 I can appreciate the music and passion, and that they weren't posers like every limo liberal oozing out there.

I don't have to agree with every lyric
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade sure they weren't posers?
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 Yes. Strummer had already given 90% of his estate to his causes when he died

You didn't know that?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade yes. They were also skint most of their career. They also respected marx, engels, castro, allende and victor jara
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 maybe your comic books told you that. Like every punk rockers they had to focus on life's strife. Punk rock doesn't lend itself to Santa Claus and wholesome
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade their songs told me that. British punk such as the clash, sex pistols and gang of four was very left leaning
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 and Johnny Rotten finally recognized where the rot in society was and is now very libertarian. I'd like to think Strummer would now be slamming the woke, leftist tools enhancing their agony
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade libertarians were lefties back then. Strummer was incredibly woke, thats why they played at rock against racism rallies
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade white riot is a woke song
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 an anti rich song. Gee, they never were known for that
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade white riot, an anti rich song? Not according to strummer.
"The only thing we're saying about the blacks is that they've got their problems and they're prepared to deal with them. But white men, they just ain't prepared to deal with them – everything's too cozy. They've got stereos, drugs, hi-fis, cars. The poor blacks and the poor whites are in the same boat."

—Joe Strummer[3]

@Guitarman123 screaming about all the power is in the rich hands?

Of course he said that later - he was one of the rich. He'd be excioriated if he still preached that
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade all the power in the hands of the capitalist ruling class. He was in debt throughout most of the clash. They were as anti capitalist as they were anti racist
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade all the power in the hands is referring to regular people who have the ability to change their lives for the better but are beaten down by the system
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 Bullshit. His estate was worth $10 million before he started giving it away
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade just over 1 million
Slade · 56-60, M
people who have the ability to change their lives for the better but are beaten down by the system
Which is it? Do they have the ability to change their lives or has the system crushed them?

Unless you are stuck in an authoritarian
commie prison country one can change their life if they have balls and a work ethic
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 that's what it dwindled down to when he died. And that's hardly chump change
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade living in the uk at that time was incredibly difficult for people as many workers were poor due to the economy being down to the toilet.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@Slade whereas during the clash they were often in debt
