This is why I avoid politics and religion here. I've seen enough online carnage elsewhere. It's a no win game. Agree to disagree in a respectful manner is the way to go.
AbbeyRhode · F
I don't blame you. People have the right to disagree, but a friend deserves respect. Once they cross that line, and become dismissive or abusive to your opinions, they are not a friend. And I would never tolerate anyone disrespecting God, either.

@4meAndyou Oh, my, lol! 😄

@4meAndyou most universities tend to attract this sort of thing and they are in an exclusive environment where the more radical things are taught and indoctrinated to the young students, even here in Oklahoma which is a red state

@cherokeepatti I can't imagine a professor in a University cess pit standing up to radical student pressure.

Someone can still be your friend, be a heathen and despise Trump. There’s a lot to life beyond these two classifications.
Post tariffs, you’ll find most disapprove of Trump. He’s just added an extremely large regressive tax. That’s what tariffs are, though most don’t realize that. Your (you specifically) ability to afford things moving forward will unequivocally decline and proportionately more than someone that’s affluent. You should worry.
As for your relationship with God, that’d be personal. Hopefully you’re cognizant of the fact that there are many different religions in the world. Religion is one of the largest causes of war known to man. That means your belief, albeit sometimes indirect, IS a contributing factor in the death of others and has always been historically. Religion hides that simply because it’s distasteful. The Catholic faith also hides the homosexuality of many of its priests because it can’t promote the contradiction of its primary teachers being sinners. Go figure.
Though I don’t care which religion someone follows because I’m technically a heathen, you should at least be aware of the giant glass house in which you live.
Friends are meant to expand your horizons. If friendships are based solely on similarities, you’ve got a clique, not real friends.

@Adogslife @Adogslife I am extremely cognizant of the many different religions in the world. In fact, when I was a teenager, I joined the Unitarian Universalist church, briefly, and joined it again even MORE briefly as an adult.
The Unitarians recognize and RESPECT all religions. The key word here is RESPECT.
If a friend MOCKS God...they DISGUST me. It's a hard and fast fact of MY life. Please feel free to live yours in whatever way you choose.
Regarding Trump, because I have the ability to THINK about his tariffs and what he is in the process of doing for my country, I am not going to be myopic about what he is trying to do.
Someone telling me that I should worry will not cause me to worry. I KNOW that things will be tough for about nine months while we go through a period of adjustment. I am perfectly willing to go without for nine months.
Someone who is NOT willing to sacrifice in the short term to improve our lives in the long term is, IMO, an idiot. But feel free to spread your doom and gloom.

Good that you unblocked after some self realisation. Blocking someone over an argument is a bad thing. People especially girls do it a lot and don't even let the other person express when there is even a slightest disagreement.
It only reflects on oneself. Block feature was not given here for that purpose but is being abused. One can take a lot of time to respond and even sleep over matters.
So they end up blocking quality people and end up entertaining junkies ..

We won't often find people with whom we agree with politically, 100% of the time. And that's fine with me as long as our core values align.
Different · 31-35, M
Yeah people gotta find god in their own way alot of people have been through things that shaped their life differently and chose to stray with what they wanna beleive that helps thrm keep going through out the day & some of that pain made the go to God either way people will find God in their own way or they wont and thats their choice due to free will.
4meAndyou · F
@Different Yes. You are VERY right. I suppose this is an extreme area of intolerance that I find rooted very deeply within myself. If someone disrespects God, I get VERY angry. I am sure that it's POSSIBLE that they will find God in their own way or not...but I don't have to listen to the disrespect in the meantime.

I pretty much only block people who have seriously offended me, or hurt me emotionally. I have also found a substitute for blocking someone. I merely hit "show less" or "mute."

That is why I avoid politics.....political views.

Your friend has the right to disagree with you on any topic, politics, religion, or anything else. If you can't tolerate an opinion that's different to your own, that makes you an intolerant and narrow-minded bigot.

WandererTony · 56-60, M
I only block those who have blocked me.
I am otherwise pretty tolerant to rude behavior 😊
