apparently you can take a person's name and photo and impersonate them on fb and message their family members

and Facebook is totally fine with it it apparently doesn't violate their community standards using other people's name and photos to impersonate them bs should be a violation imo 😤

my father and i reported this imposter profile and fb is totally fine with leaving it up 😤 i only realized latter that the fake creep had been messaging me because facebook filters unknown message senders but wft they are using not just my dad's name and not a common name it's legit not theirs but even his own photo. total fake af

similar happened to my son when he was 13 or 14 on IG. They were using his pic, name, even wrote everything that he had on the lines about him and added new account other got hacked. They were adding all of his friends too. IG said it wasn’t against the rules, imagine that?

@MellyMel22 i got locked out of my instagram account ages ago and couldn't get into it for years 🙄 but then total creeps on illegitimate profiles can run around unrestrained 😤

@GoFish Exactly!! It’s ridiculous.

@MellyMel22 yeah annoying!!! 😤 sigh 😳

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg visited a temple in Nainital in India to receive blessings during early days of Facebook when it was having troubles😳

@GoFish He used the blessings he got in a negative way🙄

Common action of scammers.
They use the profile to sell ‘money making opportunities’ to your friends and family, who because they think it’s someone they know, are more likely to trust the profile and fall for the scam.
GoFish ·
@Fizzle it should be illegal to intentionally steal a person's name and photo together to impersonate them and contact their contacts bs fb slack policies 😤 turds. internet crimes need to have more legal implication to perpetrators irl 😤 ugh
By law Australian police can lock you out of your face book and impersonate you and even upload content..
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That's fucked up!!😧

Another reason I'm glad i don't have it
PHlover19701 · 56-60, M
Not surprising. That site seems to be a haven for bad actors. Its almost like their playground and training site. One technique is spoofing which is doing exactly what you described. Why people and businesses still use it is beyond me.
popmol · 26-30, M
weird facebook pretty much killed those we reported of my mother, as soon as i see a fake account i go to everyone who followed them thinking she was the real one and tell them its a fake and to report them.
Rokan · 36-40, M
Everything you do and upload on and to facebook becomes facebook property
GoFish ·
@Rokan hmm
"security measures" are not for your protection! It is an excuse to set more rules, they don't actually care what happens to you or anyone else.
FB is evil.
GoFish ·
@UnderLockDown ugh and the mass trolling harassment accounts are shitty too
Lostpoet · M
Turn it into law enforcement
GoFish ·
@Lostpoet we need local law enforcement that deal with cyber crimes but first of all we need such things to be designated as crimes in the first place 😤 so the perps can be charged 😤 the net is like the wild west and highly unregulated 😤
