But one thing I enjoyed was that there was a way to give virtual gifts and cards. And you could actually make your own gifts to send, with pictures on the internet (and I believe there was also a gift shop—you could do either) For example, for @mindstruggle I could post something like this
and have it appear as a gift to her.
Does anyone else remember that ? Anyway, it was a cool option if you couldn’t find what you wanted in the Gift Shop.
Aww, thank you 🥺 I’ll happily take that frog mug as a gift 💙 I may not remember every little detail from EP anymore, but what I do remember is the kindness and thoughtfulness people showed just like this. It really means a lot. 🫂❤
The more I read here about what people remember about that site, the more I realize that I must have been sleep-walking through it! I don't remember this, and likewise other memories people here share about EP often stir only vague recollections in my mind.
They wanted to commercialize the gift section. And why Amazon Links are on it.
I doubt many actually even know about those links however.
Amazon though would object to Links to nothing. There's actual Amazon products associated with each gift. Amazon wouldn't profit so this site wouldn't as well.
It would be like adding eBay to the Links. Competition between the two would make Amazon stop even the images at are there. Those are Amazon's images.
@ThePatientAnarchist Yes, and you can do that here, but there was something cool about the way you could send items presented as gifts with greeting cards. I remember finding it clever.
@OldBrit You can, I suppose. And you can include them in dms. But there was just something fun about being able to make and send custom virtual gifts and cards.
