There's plenty of catfish or fake accounts from Russian bots, so it could even be AI that you're messaging and it's switched to another target profile. There's many reasons. I used to get a lot of DMs from beautiful girls who asked me if I was into female wrestling. They'd say hello and introduce themselves in a message or two, then start talking about wrestling. It was bizarre, but I just blocked them. It was clearly spam or a scam (or maybe something else ending in "am"...)

@helenoftroy2000 well, I blocked them, but I realise they ended your conversation. It might be like cold calls from scammers or some kind of marketing. They hook a few people at once, but then focus on one account or individual who looks promising and ditch the others. Maybe.
