Does anyone here ever use chat rooms?
I know they have more or less gone in terms of popularity, but some still exist. Problem is they aren't any good.

Aren't site like this much the same with a fancier title? Their style may differ but the point is the same: web-sites designed for informal conversations?
I use a couple of sites dedicated to my hobbies, so are necessarily technical; but SW and AnswerMug are the only public general chat sites I use - with a different user-name and password for each and every web-site.

I used to use AOL chat rooms back in the day. Some AOL chat rooms still exist but the problem is you have 95% of the people in those rooms somehow know each other so when you come in, it feels like you shouldn't even be there, like you're intruding.

hi, so i used many chatrooms during covid days but the one that worked out well for me was y99, many of the people were kind and friendly, but some people were really off sometimes

I don't but like you use to. It is like you said, not popular anymore. Not sure I would have the time at this time my life but did like them when I did use them.

@shaneC8181 I just remember besides people trying to spam in PM's, sometimes weird guys would get on there asking if anyone wanted to watch him "pleasure" himself on webcam.
I do not know how well that would have worked on a 56k connection, which was the norm at the time.

Sure! Nobody there at the suicide prevention chat. That number is only a recording, too. Made me sick and tired, but less suicidal.
