Do you remember your first online friend?

My first online friend was from 2013.

When did you became friends with someone online for the first time?

Way back to dial up internet days 2001. I can’t even remember what chat site it was but we ended up writing each other letters and sending mix tapes.

@SW-User still, it's sweet. I haven't talked to Sean in years. We just grew up and grew apart. Nothing devastating or upsetting. I look him up online from time to time and it always makes me smile.

Yes. Her name is Katy. We originally met sometime in the late '90s because we both played a Jeopardy Online game that was available at the time. Then we chatted using AOL's chat app. We're still friends on Facebook.

About 12 ago, we commented on the same song on YouTube from there I can’t remember how it evolved to being Facebook friends. It was purely for the loved music.

I think my first online friend, was a girl and her friends that catfished me for several years, until she "died from cancer", then after some time I found out that she wasn't real.

No, only tiny bits about a chat website [theglobe.com and Brian Frouds fan forum] and some users from AOL chat... I was a young teenager when I first started going online in the mid 90s.

Lol, it didn't end well. Really great conversations until we met in real life. It was in 2008 when I was 15.

@SW-User Sometimes it's for the best. In my case, it was nothing too dramatic, just unpleasant because I wanted a friend and the guy thought I was almost his girlfriend or something like that.

@SW-User I have left most social media behind as it is more about ads then connection these days. Here feels a bit different though. Tumblr was all over the board before it was bought out. But it was very open which was good and bad.

Around 2006-2008 I made freinds with someone off yahoo chat. We stayed in contact for a couple of years but ultimately fell out of touch with each other... i made many more freinds after that.

I've been talking online since 2003, but pretty much when I came here was the first time I made friends online. Everything else was completely anonymous and fleeting before then.
