Have you ever been thrown completely off balance by an unexpected success?
Had a very odd start to the day. Last night I decided that I would scour the supermarkets in nearby towns for smult (lard) as it is the nearest thing I can find in Norway to suet for making mincemeat. Based on recent failed attempts i thought I might have to try a number of places so I decided to just visit every supermarket on the way to Tønsberg until I found some and then visit a favourite cafê as well as the big Vaffel og Vintage charity shop nearby.
The route from home to Tønsberg takes me past one of the local supermarkets so I thought I might as well try there first as i hadn't visited that one for a few weeks. And there it was on the first shelf I looked at in the first freezer.
So now the day's real task is complete and it's only 08:15. My favourite cafê doesn't open until 10 and the charity shop opens at 12 which means that I'm out far too early for them.
So I drove back home, just five minutes; can't really justify driving all that way just to have a cup of coffee and risk finding something I can't resist in the charity shop. Now I've had breakfast and I'm wondering what to do with myself for the rest of the day because I had expected to spend all day at this task.
Grr! :-)
