I loved my 3 days at Ironbridge last summer. We stayed at a lovely Best Western on the river and could see the bridge from our room.

I've taken to keeping a note of conversations I have with people in the street and compliments I receive.
The reason is that there's so much negativity in the world that I feel I should remind myself that the world is in fact mostly populated by good people.
So here's a copy of the notes I've made so far today

So here's a copy of the notes I've made so far today
As I walked away from the Ironbridge on the south side towards Benthall a man walking towards me gestured at my bare feet and said something like "Fair play, loving it. ". in a broad Midlands accent.
In Brosely an old lady asked if I never wore shoes and asked about rain and snow. I explained that I do it when it's comfortable and that I wear shoes in the winter. She then went on to say she thought my feet must be size 7 or 8 and said she wears 7s. She had on very comfortable looking Mary Jane's and was walking with a stick.
Just as I came back to the bridge a woman walking passed said she had been reading about Socrates and that he always went barefoot and that was why he was so wise and that the same must apply to me. I laughed and disputed the idea that the wisdom part applied to me. She went on to talk about her son who apparently 'Went off the rails' and spent a lot of time in the mountains barely dressed. She said she didn't understand it at the time but finally saw that he was simply trying harden himself up. I said I'm really just a fairweather person and I put shoes on if it dips below 5 C. She thought 5 C was a bit cold.

Some scenes from today's walk
Looking upstream from the bridge
Looking downstream
The toll house on the Benthall side
Looking back to Ironbridge
Some of the sculptures on the Brosely sculpture trail
Lots of bikers parked at the end of the bridge opposite the Tontine Hotel

@ninalanyon Right now it’s 25C (76F) at 10:30 AM. Looks like another day of overworked A/C systems here.
