Today is a gloriously sunny day with hardly a cloud in the sky. It's just a degree or two above freezing but there's no wind so it's very comfortable; in fact I got slightly warmer than I wanted to be, I wore Thinsulate gloves and the Primark lined winter tights when ordinary opaque tights and ordinary knitted gloves would have been enough.

About the handbag. It's the one I bought most recently at NMS Tønsberg. It only cost me 30 NOK (about 3 USD, 2.70 EUR, 2.30 GBP). That's less than a cup of coffee which is typically about 40 NOK here unless you are at IKEA.

I was pleased to get it because I don't have any other nice looking bags that I can carry rucksack style but I didn't inspect it very closely and only noticed today that one of the straps was only held on by a scrap of twine.

Looks like the rivet had not been fitted correctly because there is no sign that it ha been mishandled.

So I took a pair of pliers to the rivet and succeeded in squashing it enough to pull it out without damaging the leather. And I replaced it with an M5 cheese head screw and nut with washers on the inside and outside. Had to poke the screw through the lining of course.

I have quite a few of them and I dismantled a couple of cartons of them last week thinking that I must be able to use them for something. My house is full of stuff like that.

I noticed that the surface had some scratches so used some brown shoe polish to cover them up after the pictures were taken.
