I'm really not sure if this therapist is the right one for me?

I'm really sorry youre having a negative experience. I don't know, but I suspect finding the right therapist would be like finding the right doctor - it might take a few tries. There are certain people we just don't mesh well with, and that makes it difficult to form any type of trust or confidence which would be important. Talking to you about her pet makes it sound as though she just wants to commiserate with you rather than work professionally with you. It also might be that the pet is the sum total of her life experience with relationships, which surly wouldn't translate well to someone who has had a deeper emotional relationship, like you and your spouse. To be honest, I would be offended if anyone compared the death of their pet to a spouse. I hope you can find a therapist that you fewl comfortable with and who can help you find your inner peace.
