If you are publicly mocking the Kirk assassination, you may benefit from mentally ingesting this article

This has to be one of the worst piece of text filled with double standards I have happened to read in recent history. It's so bad that if this isn't the opinion of a MAGA in the closet but the average "normie", I'm hella thankful there's an ocean in between me and the madhouse.

To recap:

- Political violence is only as serious as how "famous" the victim is. Sucks for the Hortmans. Though let's conveniently ignore that Mike Pence and Pelosi were/are probably even more widely known than Kirk. Though memes and jokes were perfectly allowed for those, because reasons

- The guy accuses the readers of not understanding how the media works, ironically not understanding the most basic concept that it's the media that gets to pick what and who is famous and newsworthy, and not the other way around.

- The guy begs you, even threatens(!) you not to share memes or risk "civil war", in the very country where media billionaires are allowed to run 24/7 propaganda telling you your political opponents are literally the incarnation of evil, of course in the name of "freedom of speech". And it's your memes, not that, the greatest risk of "civil war" of course

- It's not the time to discuss gun safety! Let's delay that to the next 200 years please.

- Also what's up with that absolutely wild attempt at a comparison with Floyd? I must've forgot when Floyd or any of the cited liberal pundits said mass shooting victims are an acceptable loss for the sake of 2A? Where 99.9% of the "memes" in question merely point out that the absurdity that the very thing Kirk's vehemently insisted wasn't an issue (or even, to be an acceptable risk) has just cost him his life

@Elessar nice of you to chime in and share mostly just your interpretation

@Notsimilarreally It's an opinion article and mine's a (I think legit/constructive/respectful) counter opinion. If there's different interpretations to those problematic passages I'd be glad to hear them.

I'm on board with condemning anyone making fun of the incident (as, consistently, I'd have expected to see in the other incidents aforementioned as well), but to me, begging people to stay silent about the issues they care about (gun control), let alone instilling fear about a "civil war" if they don't, isn't the way to do it.
my sister and I was just having this conversation.

good read.

@Bexsy I wouldn't expect anything different from you 💛

His daughter, scared by the gunshot and crowd reaction wanted to run to her dad and had to be held back. I do not care what your politics are, if that does not eat your heart raw, nothing will.

@NudasPriest pretty spot on eh
Spare me the insincere nonsense. Kirk was practically giggling and encouraging his audience to pay the bail of the man who nearly beat Nancy Pelosi's husband to death with a hammer.

@NudasPriest Better to silence 2/3 of the public opinion not to risk upsetting the remaining 1/3?
