Got up early to pack and tidy up. Off to Leigh, west of Manchester, for no better reason than it' within an easy drive of the Turton Tower Woodland Cafe that gets advertised on Radio Caroline so often.

I decided I should get my car washed. I knew that there's a touchless car wash at York so I headed that way. I've tried to use that car wash a couple of times before though and it has been out of commission. This time it was working. It is slower than the similar machines back home but does include a blower that dries the car before you drive out which is an improvement compared to the ones in Norway which just have a fixed blower above the exit so you have to drive out slowly.

I'm not sure the final result is as good here though.

Then I detoured to Selby to visit the Abbey Café but there was a service in progress so the café was closed. Wandered about Selby for a while visiting the charity shops and then went to Little Miss Muffin's Teashop where I had a pot of tea and a slice of blackberry and apple pie. Very nice filling. Good to have an apple pie that isn't saturated with sugar. Good value for money too, 4.55 GBP altogether.

I'm in The Greyhound Hotel, Leigh. First and second impressions were not good. The pub of the same name has a notice saying it's closed until further notice. The building has a distinctly uncared for look about it. But it' clean. However when I flushed the loo the bathroom floor got wet. And the bathtub had some strange plastic layer stuck to it. Presumable the enamel was damaged. But the plastic was all torn and tatty. Luckily when I complained bout the water on the bathroom floor I was given another room with a better bathroom and bath. It's a bit of a shame that the place is so run down because with a bit of maintenance it would be just as good as any Travelodge or Premier Inn. The actual rooms are clean and the bathroom in mine is in good condition with a bath big enough for two. te bed is also comfortable.

In the eastbound Moto services at Birch using the WiFi while the car charges. Should have been the westbound but I missed the turning inside the service area and it's impossible to turn back.

Today's outfit is a shortened miniskirt and black and white striped top

@ninalanyon yes Norway gets plenty of snow .
You will be enjoying some nice weather here and I admire you for being barefoot, I am pleased to hear you have been accepted for who you are back home , I am now accepted within my village for being the naked gardener

@skimpyboy We don't get as much snow as we used to. In the '80s and '90s we built igloos in the garden with the children that were big enough for an adult to get into. But in the last couple of decades we've rarely had enough snow to make more than a small dog kennel. In fact some winters have been what is called barvinter, bare winter, when hardly any snow falls and it's so dry that we have forest fire warnings in December.

As for enjoying nice weather here, I am but not for the reason you might think. My sons have been sending me email about long periods of daily maximum temperatures of 30 C back home. I'm quite glad I'm where it's a bit cooler!

@ninalanyon when I was young we got snow that lasted weeks but it's unusual to get snow that lasts more than three days .
So your in a cooler place here than home and climate change is certainly making big changes and even in April it was warm and sunny this year and I was cutting trees back in my nothings
