I did actually do something useful today. A couple of years ago I found a jar stuffed with obsolete paper notes while tidying up at home. It must have been lying there since before my wife died.
Been meaning to take them to the bank ever since and was wondering if they would take them. At last today I had nothing better to do and also remembered them. Quite an anticlimax the cashier at Santander simply said that of course I could pay them in to my account. It took him quite a while to count them and check them with a marker pen
So now I'm 465 GBP better off. The cashier at the bank said it was a decent chunk of money but it's not even enough for my stay in Nottingham!
