Today's outfit must have looked a little incongruous to the people I passed in the street as I walked to and from the shops. They were almost all dressed in winter clothing, quite a few with woolly hats and walking boots while I was wearing a a red miniskirt and red nail varnish on my toes.



The top is a sort of black velvet and the pile has a very pronounced direction like a cat's fur. So when you stroke it one way it feels smooth, and the other way feels rough. But compared to a cat it is backwards. Stroking up is smooth and down is rough. I have it tucked in to my skirt and the result is that the skirt rides up as I walk. I've just measured it. I adjusted it as I think it should be and the hem was 61.5 cm from the ground. After walking around in the house for a few minutes it has ridden up to 63.5 cm, 2 cm higher!

Did a little bit of sewing to fix a couple of my pile of repairs. First was just to fix one of the hanging loops on my long brown velour skirt. Doesn't matter how ugly my sewing is there because it's on the inside. But I have a mini-skirt that I'm quite fond of that is so tight that one of the seams split at the lower hem. So I decided that if I can't hide the ugly work I'll highlight it instead so i used thick 'silver' thread to bind the edge of the split and to reinforce the seam above the split. No point in repairing the split itself because that would just put extra strain on the rest of the skirt.

So here for your amusement is a picture of the result:
It's terrible, must learn to do better! But it will do for the moment.
