Breakfast at IKEA, again. The excuse for going out is that I promised to post a parcel by today and the reason for going as far as IKEA is that I seem to have run out of skirt hangers. I could buy them at a closer shop but I actually do prefer the IKEA ones.

Went to Søstrene Grene at Liertoppen while the car was charging to get spiced tea but they didn't have any. Bought a packet of Celestial brand Morning Thunder. Am I the only one to think that the name is rather amusing?

So I decided to visit the other branch on the other side of town to see if they have the right one. And they do. And it's just a few steps to the Jordbærpikene café where I'm having coffee and pasjonsdrøm.

@Musicman The base is finely chopped almonds, the top is passion fruit jelly, and in between is a kind of light passion fruit cheese cake. I'm not entirely sure what the red bits are.

@ninalanyon How did it taste?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Musicman Very pleasant, slightly sharp, light and clean. And now I remember that I intended to make a cheesecake for tomorrow. I'd better get on with it!

Today's outfit is the 'new' orange dress. I really should have switched genders as a teenager in the sixties because then I would have been able to wear the mini skirts and short A line dresses when it was all new!

But I was a very slow developer as far as sexuality was concerned and I had no role models to follow. In fact at the time even many of those who were pushing the boundaries were not sure themselves of what they were, the vocabulary simply wasn't well known, perhaps even didn't exist. For example Quentin Crisp, who was in his fifties when I was a teenager, labelled himself as gay almost all his life but
At the age of 90 Crisp said in his book The Last Word that he had come to the conclusion that he was transgender.

We all waste so much life conforming to expectations.

Anyway, here's my new favourite dress, again

@ninalanyon I absolutely love this dress.
And your picture in contrast with the snow.
And the quote ..We all waste so much life conforming to expectations.
🧡:)..

@being I love to wear bright coloured clothes. Especially in the winter when everything here is monochrome and everyone else is wearing black. And this dress was just such a lucky find. I just stopped at this charity shop on a whim as i was driving home. It was the only dress in the shop that would fit and on that day all dresses were half price so it was just 2.55 EUR. You can't even get a cup of coffee for that here.

@ninalanyon I think orange suits you too.
I too like to wear colours
and drinking coffee:))

I've still never been to IKEA ...!! They have breakfast? 😃🤔🥯

@Coralmist I chose the Charlotte IKEA out of nostalgia as NC is the state I've visited most often.

It would be interesting to hear what a US IKEA is like. In Europe they vary somewhat from place to place. I'm lucky in that the nearest one to me is very quiet because of the way the building is designed and the space divided up. But the IKEAs in England have a totally different architecture and the restaurants are noisy uncomfortable places.

I have the Noise Capture app on my mobile. Here's the summary for IKEA Slependen in Norway.

And here is the one for IKEA Reading, UK

Admittedly the UK IKEA was much busier but IKEA Slependen never gets that noisy even when it is packed with people. Much of the difference is down to the design of the space. IKEA Slependen has relatively low ceilings and the seating area is divided into four separate 'rooms' with partitions whereas the UK one is a huge undivided space with very high ceiling.

Of course it's not all IKEA's fault, British children make a lot more noise than Norwegian children and British parents respond equally noisily.

@ninalanyon The sound app is quite interesting, didn't even know it existed! I would love to see NC one day🙂I bet the noise level in my state would be somewhere in the middle of the English store and Norwegian one.

@Coralmist The sound app is available on the Noise-Planet website: https://noise-planet.org/noisecapture.html

While in the second Søstrene Grene I came across a little display of Christmas wishes. So I added mine

And took this a few moments later
