Welp...I got rejected from pre-apprenticeship program at my school

I graduated from that place over a year ago for coding, and I guess what they say about not caring about people who are no longer students is correct. I think maybe me indicating I had too much leverage over them backfired on me, since usually having leverage increases chances of being hired. Oh well, I can always wait for the automotive company that my dad's colleague works at to contact me for an interview. Waited for over a month, and only recently was my resumé sent to HR after being sent to direct supervisor, and before that just being held on to by the colleague smh. I'm gonna join the local chapter of the painter's union next Monday, and hopefully I can start working as a painting apprentice soon.

i feel like you need to be more proactive than that to get into an apprenticeship, its essential not much different from job hunting. if i were you i would be researching and sending over my resume to multiple places daily. just see it as a matter of probability
@PepsiColaP i did that from late July to mid September, and aside from a few employers rejecting me, everyone else just ignored my e-mails. it's just like every other industry, where they claim there's a shortage, but that's only because they caused it by enforcing gatekeeping BS. Now there are some trades that do actually need new people, but most trades aren't that way since if it was, they'd accept anyone with a pulse.
@uikakarotuevegeta unfortunately thats how the job market for most industries is rn , your experience is not unique at all and in my own experience it takes a lot more than 8 weeks of hunting to find something rn . especially seeing as those things are often seasonal too and during summer you would find more competition for apprenticeships /internships/graduate jobs.
@PepsiColaP then I wait for interview at automotive company smh

Also painter is something that's done year round because it can be done indoors and outdoors
@uikakarotuevegeta most job are done all year around ,I'm just talking about the job market itself and trying to work around it/the demand and supply of jobs
@PepsiColaP I've been applying to retail jobs in-person from March to May across various malls in my and other cities, and also last summer till this summer applied for all kinds of jobs I can qualify for online.

I did get over a dozen interviews, out of applying from thousands of jobs; I applied on LinkedIn, Indeed, Wirkin, and even company websites. sadly didn't get hired, but good thing I have my own automation startup as insurance over the long term.

@uikakarotuevegeta well first of all you're applying season is the wrong time of the year most places start hiring September October to prepare for the Christmas rush most of those people unless they are very good performers will be laid off by February once you get a job you have to perform extremely well so you can keep the job after the Christmas season sales jobs in malls and such picks up for Christmas season only.
@dale74 which I've done last year and many years before that
