Nina's Blog - Wednesday 2nd October 2024

Wednesday 2nd October 2024, 10:04

Gloriously sunny. But the sky was clear overnight so it's only 5C and there is a stiff northerly breeze blowing.

A sailor going against the trend, going out on the water instead of taking the boat out of the water. Heading south down the fjord

The Swan family again, but notice that Mr Swan isn't in the picture

That's because it seems that I had come across their nesting spot. He wasn't at all pleased to see me walk past

Looking north toward the inner fjord

I understand swans are very aggressive about protecting their nesting areas.
Be careful

@turbineman40 Yes, that's true but the cygnets are almost fully grown now so he wasn't as aggressive as he would have been if his mate had been on the est with them. He didn't go after me and I was careful to give him as much space as I could. But there was no way of getting past him without walking between him and the rest of the family that was out in the water about thirty metres away.

@ninalanyon To me, a swan is a beautiful bird but with a nasty temperament.

@turbineman40 They are alright as long as one keeps a reasonable distance. :-)
