Any Wordpress experts here?

I have used Wordpress.com for years, but I'm not loving their recent changes.
Should i persist, or jump ship?
If the latter, What's better than Wordpress (but still easy to use)?

I very much prefer to use ExpressionEngine to create websites. That said, WordPress has a lot more support in terms of plugins and available developers.

@DunningKruger ExpressionEngine, uses the same core technology WordPress uses: the PHP programming language. Same with Drupal. They're all a product of a time when PHP rules, and the prominent Linux was called a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP). You did not need to do any integration or set up an application proxy. All four were integrated with each other.

Now, it's like having to run a steamer ship. so you can go out and enjoy the view from the deck.

@Northwest Thanks. I've only been working on the Web for 30 years, so thanks for clearing that up for me.

I have no idea how long you've been working on the web since 1989. So you agree with what I said?
If you're just using it to post your writing, Medium or SubStack are much better.

WordPress remains the world's most popular CMS engine. Given how many years it's been around, it's now loaded with bloatware.

The side industry of tools that mushroomed around it, is also loaded with bloatware, and if you're trying to do anything "special", you get ripped off.

Do you use it, or program plug-ins, add-ons?

@Northwest I'm using Wordpress.com as I'm not technical enough for the self-hosted version.

@Persephone There may be much better environments, if this is what you want.
