Nina's Blog - Monday 19th August 2024

Monday 19th August 2024, 13:44

Finally notified my friend in France of my arrival day and time. And I've decided how I'm going to present myself. @SW-User might be a little disappointed in me but I'm going to put on a pair of shorts, take off my bra and lipstick. The nail varnish can stay, I think.

My reasoning is that at each little step i take out of the closet that my children should be the first to know.

Turning up fully dressed etc might just be a little much. Best to let your friend slide into accepting you as you are. I'm sure it will go very well.

@22Michelle We meet so rarely that sliding into anything doesn't really work. Since I last visited I have had my ears pierced, started wearing nail varnish all the time, shaved off my full beard. The last time he saw me without a beard we were both about 17, it was rather wispy then but the last time he saw me it was rather substantial.

But I don't have any good reason to suppose that he will be bothered at all. I suppose the problem is that though we are old friends we have not spent much time together over the years so I can't be sure what his opinions are now. And I know his girlfriend, now second wife, even less well.

I'm quite confident that i am overthinking all this

@ninalanyon Well as they get older people either get far more liberal or far more bigoted. So either it will all be good or it's straight back in your car and head home. I'm sure it will be the forner.

@22Michelle I was hoping I'd be able to charge from his solar panels. Perhaps I should make sure I have enough to get back to the nearest Tesla Supercharger!

:-)

@22Michelle I'll be taking supplies of English delicacies such as Yorkshire tea and Branston Pickle/ I'll trade them for electrons. :-)
