There are some people (men, mostly) who have this idea (fantasy?) in their heads that they can actually meet up with you. They want to know your age and if you are in the same country, and where in that country you are located, for that reason, and they want to know what you do for work so that they know if you are out of their league. If all that lines up for their fantasy, then they will ask for your photo.

@1Dogma Yes, maybe it's easy for you to understand and reply if somebody is saying that she feels alone, but for other people like me, they need to know weather that person is a 13 year old girl or 50 years old lady before they can reply appropriately. There are many things where we need to have an idea about them to relate understand and reply accordingly. For some people it's even difficult to start a healthy conversation before getting that idea. I am not talking about disclosing your personal details like complete address, phone, company name etc. You may have not felt that but in some conversations you will realise the need of that in some way or another.
@1Dogma I agree with @ABCDEF7. Secrecy to the point of being a caricacture of a real person doesn't seem to me to be the basis of any meaningful interactions.
HEY!! On this site, I got some magical, God-given right to make you tell me anything, somehow. So I get to know where you live, what's your address, how old are you, what state were you born, what is your job, where do you work, how much money do you make, what is your bank account number and password combination, your social security number, your entire ancestry and bloodline heritage back to Adam! Screw that, I need an entire 298 page autobiography of where you've been and all the things you've ever done
I don’t answer any general questions that I consider invasive, I just pass them by, and I don’t post “selfies”, either. I prefer the anonymity of this site, too.
