Do any social media, dating, or similar sites already require uploading of government ID, etc. to prove age and identity?

Do you trust that the uploads you make of your government ID, etc. (such as verification selfies, etc.) are managed and stored properly and securely? Is it even really possible to trust that it happens that way?

When the Australian government under-16's social media ban starts in December one of the ways proposed to prove age/ID is by making users upload a government ID image, etc. and when Digital ID becomes enforced a person might probably be required to use that.

I wouldn't trust that at all. That the quickest way to get your identity stolen.
