I need someone who knows anything about instagram to tell me what i already know
I don't do social media (i don't feel like this counts). But a thousand years ago, after i left my ex an old friend from here suggested i open an instagram. Suppose it was a sense of defiance.

Anyway, so I think i end up remembering that instagram existed once every six months. Just there i went on to it looking for something specific. I'm wandering around & discover that two women from my past followed me last week.
What happened last week to make me pop up as suggested?
Is it real? Did they really follow me or is it a trick from instagram to get me to follow them?

@BeefySenpie this exactly how it works - it will also suggest mutuals (ie if you and I both know someone \ someone has us in their phone, but we don't know each other, it will periodically suggest us to each other)
I know nothing. I had instagram briefly and deleted it because I got fed up of people asking me for money. I know you don't have to respond to random strangers, but I'm always curious.
