Why do I do this?

Because you care, you're human and you're honest about your feelings, versus the standard "trash taking it's self out" cliché's.

I am the same. It's hurtful when it's a friend or someone you are connected with.

Because we think we matter to people who barely notice us.

It's a mystery as to why sometimes. My favorite poster here blocked me and we had no negative exchanges. I can only assume they read something I jumped on someone else for and didn't like it. Don't let it get to you.
