I am traumatised by a nightmare I had about a troll (the mythological variety) inside a videogame. I am talking about the mythological variety of troll.
In my nightmare, there was this giant pixelated troll who lived under a bridge. The pixelated 8bit troll would wait at night then reach out from under the bridge to grab large floppy eared bunny rabbits, camels, donkeys, and turkeys. All of the animals who were grabbed by the troll were then eaten. The only animals that could fight back would be the coyotes, a North American species of wolf. The coyotes were not nice either though because they would attack and eat the other animals too. The only reason the coyotes fought the troll was due to competition over food. The troll reached out to grab a camel being chased by the coyotes. The coyotes got mad and bit the giant claw of the troll not letting go. The troll couldn't pull back his claw and the sun came up. The troll turned into stone in the sonelight and solidified crumbling into a pile of rubble. Game over.
I am thinking about creating videogames about trolls as a means of self-help against my traumatic nightmare. I am scared that online trolls will get offended and think I am making fun of them. I am deeply afraid of being insensitive towards the online variety of trolls who may seek revenge. Any advice on making videogames about trolls? If you are the online variety of troll (the kind who offends people for fun), would you yourself be offended by a videogame about mythological trolls? By all means everybody is welcome. I am neutral about the online variety of trolls. I support all communities as long as they don't hate on me. Advice from everybody would be greatly appreciated!
