71 yard field goal attempt.

Does any one else feel the cowboys should have attempted the field goal last Sunday?

If I was GM, and my coach decided to go with a 71 yarder that the other team would have very likely returned for a TD, they wouldn't be back next season

@TinyViolins that’s dumb though. The odds of them actually returning it are not very high. He has made them in practice. It’s week one. You up by 17. EVEN IF they returned it, you still go into half up 10. I would want to know my if my kicker can kick from they distance for later in the season

@Ballplayer28 Lots of kickers can do 70 in practice. No one's done it in a game yet. And there's a good reason. It's a high-risk, low-reward move.

Why not just go for a Hail Mary at that point? It has a far higher rate of success

@TinyViolins no one has done it because no one has attempted it. The record was 64 by prater at Denver. Then Tucker does it at 66. Now how many are kicking it that far. Try it. And see what happens it’s week 1

@Ballplayer28 Just looked at the stats. Since 2001, there have been 21 FG attempts of longer than 65 yards. Justin Tucker is the only one to successfully convert with his 66.
