If I was GM, and my coach decided to go with a 71 yarder that the other team would have very likely returned for a TD, they wouldn't be back next season

@Ballplayer28 Lots of kickers can do 70 in practice. No one's done it in a game yet. And there's a good reason. It's a high-risk, low-reward move.
Why not just go for a Hail Mary at that point? It has a far higher rate of success

@TinyViolins no one has done it because no one has attempted it. The record was 64 by prater at Denver. Then Tucker does it at 66. Now how many are kicking it that far. Try it. And see what happens it’s week 1

@Ballplayer28 Just looked at the stats. Since 2001, there have been 21 FG attempts of longer than 65 yards. Justin Tucker is the only one to successfully convert with his 66.

Nope. It wasn't necessary, and if he had missed it would ding his psyche. Plus they had a return guy down there.

@TexChik the returned was u likely to run it back even if he did, you still up by 10 going into half and you give the kicker that much more confidence. He makes them in practice

The NFL record is 66 yards 3 years running.

@JohnnySpot I know but he. Like have made it. They had nothing to lose up by 17 4 seconds going into half time.

@Ballplayer28 aren't they saying it was too windy?
