She did, yes.

Yes and no.
I started smoking as a freshman in college. At semester break my Mom came to ferry me home, a five hour drive. I fretted about how to break the news that I'd gone over to the dark side. Finally I pulled out my pack of Salems (take a puff, it's springtime!) and casually offered her one before I lit up. She calmly declined.
A few minutes later she pulled over at a gas station and came back out with a box of Marlboros.
"i don't like menthol," she said.
My jaw never quite properly re-hinged.

My mom didn't at all but my dad smoked if he drank beer. He never smoked in the house.

Except he drinks every day so 🤷

Neither of my parents smoked.
Back in the 1950's, it was expected that even nonsmokers would allow guests to smoke.
So we had ashtrays all around the house. I grew up thinking that ashtrays were invented as a place to put loose change, stray buttons, paper clips, etc.
When certain friends were coming to visit, my father would say, "Time to empty the ashtrays!"

No, she never has.
Not anymore she was a social smoker that would smoke at parties she hosted. I don't think she inhaled.

Nope, neither parents did, but my oldest brother and some of my uncles and cousins did so I've been around it.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Yes, my whole childhood pretty much aside from a few times she tried to 'quit'. She died of cancer probably not related but you never know.
I had teacher in elementary school accuse me of smoking because you could smell it on my clothes. It was pretty upsetting and embarrassing.

My mother was a chain smoker. She would develop a cough and hack day and night sometimes.
exexec · 70-79, C
