Yes and no.
I started smoking as a freshman in college. At semester break my Mom came to ferry me home, a five hour drive. I fretted about how to break the news that I'd gone over to the dark side. Finally I pulled out my pack of Salems (take a puff, it's springtime!) and casually offered her one before I lit up. She calmly declined.
A few minutes later she pulled over at a gas station and came back out with a box of Marlboros.
"i don't like menthol," she said.
My jaw never quite properly re-hinged.
