Hey Walmart! Want me to use the self-checkout?

discount the cost for the employees you don't have to pay now. Oh and when you don't have any working the cashier stand I'll probably need assistance for one thing or another from the people you continue to work there.

I refuse to do self-checkout and cost working folks their jobs while padding corporate bottomlines - they certainly don't pass along any savings to customers
lispoiledbrat · 26-30, F
i refuse to use it myself, I don't work there. its not my job.
James1956 · 61-69, M
I buy most of my food at Aldi now and limit what I buy at Walmart, because Walmart started this,
James1956 · 61-69, M
@Pretzel The Aldi I shop is inconsistent with stock levels but I can usually find what I need.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@whowasthatmaskedman That’s because Aldi put bar codes on several faces of their goods to save staff having search for them 🙂
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Dlrannie Well it gets them a share of my business, having the luxury of three supermarkets in my local spolling mall, including an Aldi. Plus my wife prefers their microwave meals over name brands.😷
Faroutcat · 46-50, M
Target is doing that now too. A manager at Target actually forced me to use the self-checkout. He was very rude. But there were young kids around so I didn’t want to make a scene.
lispoiledbrat · 26-30, F
@Faroutcat Target did this to me, i scanned a few items then got distracted payed and left. Not my job to care if i scanned everything, im not an employee.
Vaper · 36-40, M
I was in line at a busy Wally World self check out. Dude at the register had a bar code sticker on his finger. Everything he openly swiped was 47 cents.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@Vaper that's GENIUS - until he gets caught :)
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Our supermarkets here have the same thing. And I refuse to use them, for the same reason,😷
If I scan and bag my own shit..
should I not get a staff discount?

I need help getting the damn bags open when I use self check out. The employee just stands there with their arms crossed watching!! 😝
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@SW-User and looking at you with the smug look on their face
SW-User
@Pretzel yes, it pisses me off!! I just wanna walk over and shake em real hard and say wake up.....help is needed here!!
MasterLee · 56-60, M
They should eliminate checkers. They screw up most of the time.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
ours lost their business license for 7 days.for selling the store to Walmart reality without approval from the city as the law requires a new building inspection, existing tif grants are revoked
Have you seen amazon's stores that don't have any checkouts at all?
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@SooperSarah holy crap - no
@Pretzel [media=https://youtu.be/vorkmWa7He8]
I prefer self checkout. I like to minimize how much I interact with other people.
1490wayb · 56-60, M
krogers is worse than walmart for service
Tesco outsmarted you on that, they released hand zappers - which regularly need "checking for accuracy"... and every time Hooty gets one, I can guarantee that they need checking.
Smaller labor costs won't make your groceries cheaper.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@Roundandroundwego you sound like management
@Pretzel I'm not management, that's just the reality. Local labor is only a little of the cost of goods.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
Self checkout is way faster. You don’t have to deal with the slow cashiers and then then desperately trying to sign you up to a Walmart MasterCard.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SooperSarah In canada they do.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@lispoiledbrat so go through the cashier then. I didn’t say anyone else had to use it. I just stated why I do. I also walk with a cane because of really bad arthritis so the faster I can get out of the store, the better for me.
lispoiledbrat · 26-30, F
@iamonfire696 depends on the store, some of them by me don't have cashiers at all anymore
