Depends on location and store. I use my own canvas bags but when I'm traveling I don't bring them. Sometimes end up having to pay for bags at the store as they don't offer free ones.

depends on what state
in some they charge for plastic bags,, and often not offer them. they tend to charge for paper as well

just got back from a p[lastic bag state,, where EVERY ITEM at WalMart gets a bag
they are every where,, all the fences,, all the trees,, the drains,, even in livestock
In a not plastic bag state? I dont see ANY of them floatgin around

same goes for Deposit drink containers.
pass a "bottle bill" you see very few cans or bottles and busted glass is minimal
places without? that crap is EVERYWHERE

hasn't happened here yet - googled it and walmart says they want to reduce the use of plastic bags.

I use all of - when we clean out the cat box. but I get it.

oh, get this - they said they were going to start using paper bags for delivery - so guess who may starting getting delivery :)

It's happened here too - ever since the switch from single-use (but still re-usable) bags supermarkets, and many small shops, charge for bags now.

The two big supermarkets here charge you between 15 cents and a few dollars depending what sort of 're-usable' bags you buy. They now also have paper bags which I bet are also made in china like all the plastic bags.

Our town has outlawed the use of free plastic bags from stores. All stores now use paper bags.

You can purchase re useable plastic bags for 10 cents from almost any store, and if they are used for groceries you should wash them between uses.

You have to remember to bring the bags with you when going shopping. Otherwise you get ONE paper bag which sometimes breaks.

Aldi has always done it here. Natural Grocers don’t have anything but reusable bags you buy but you can get a box that they have from merchandise that they’ve shelved. They keep a bin of those boxes by the cash registers for customers to use.

Thats the law here in OZ. Single use plastics are banned.. Everyone brings there own or pays 10c plus for a reusable bag.😷

It's definitely not all stores, but I see it more with smaller chains. the bigger chains only really do it in locations where they're incentivized to not produce as much plastic waste

Yes i know some places charge. I think first time i saw it i was in Los Angeles and they tried to charge me. I was like oh no thats ok i can carry it you people have lost your mind 🤣.

I’ve only noticed in the northern states.

We don’t care about the environment here, so we have plastic bags for everything. They are our multi use bags.
