@4meAndyou He was talking about saving up more money (already had a little more than $400) and buying a portable power station to have in case we have power outages this winter with an ice storm or whatever. I think he was thinking we’ll have another one that lasts at least 11 hours like the one we had in October 2020. And that’ll be home alone when he is in class and get cold. A portable power station can run an electric blanket, lights, heat up food in the glass bowl convection cooker or cook something in the rice cooker, heat water in the coffee pot for a hot drink etc. He said he’d need about $500 more and thought he could win some more money for it. I think his grandpa almost talked him out of it.

@cherokeepatti If you have a medical requirement the power company might send you one. They gave us 2 a few years ago, with solar panels, to run an oxygen concentrator.

@UnderLockDown My neighbor is on the same circuit as we are and she uses a breathing machine at night. By law in Oklahoma they put the homes that have residents with such medical conditions top priority for getting the electrical connections repaired and so many hours to do it. I didn’t know it when the power went out but they made sure it was about the time she would have gone to sleep. Everyone on the same circuit got their electric back on at the same time. I think she said there were about 12 homes. I am not on oxygen.
