What brings you to SW? Why do you stay?

The original reason I came is nowhere close to the reason I stay. (Come back in my case) But I have some old friends in my case and I enjoy interacting with them from time to time and it's nice to come back to a place that somehow feels strangely "normal." Even if it's just online. I know I often disappear for years at a time but I like coming back and just slipping back into the usual shenanigans.

I like reading people's stories and sharing something about myself too.
Also I'm trying to stop using another website where I've been harassed quite often, even if I had met some nice friends there too.

It's the only place I can find people who I would never be able to interact with in r/l because they live around the world and often have very different views to mine. I have good r/l friends as well so am not emotionally dependent on SW, but if/when it gets me down, I leave for a while.

I’ve made some friends here who feel like family at this point.

I do sometimes get nostalgic for when it was way more active, though

EP brought me to it. I stay because of the same reason most people stay… something lacking in real life.

I sometimes wonder that myself. Looking through my friends lists so many have gone and most have not been on for weeks. I feel like not coming on but then i meet someone new and i am happy again.

The witty banter, high level of reasoned and open debate, and near universal respect that I receive from all, even those who disagree with me 😩

At this point, I’ve been here so long it just feels natural. I enjoy reading the comments. There’s a select few that I follow very closely. It’s just rather comfortable here.

I love it here. It's like a night out down the pub and it's great fun if you ignore the bar brawl and those letcherous guys in the corner who have had one too many.

At this point, it's force of habit if nothing else. But also it's a way of interacting with people, some of whom I've been doing so for years now. And newdz, can't forget that. 😁

I just got here so I am still finding my way around here, but how i got to this site is a friend recommended it for me. Now will I stay? Don't know really depends on how I end up feeling about this site

To interact with people I would not otherwise in life.

To widen perspectives.
