As someone who has ringing in both my ears I doubt Id last a minute.

My initial thought is sure. Until I listened to all that was said about it and also that over a thousand tried. Yikes.
P.S. Hearing my own heartbeat and blood flow or internal organs would be quite unsettling.

🤷🏻♀ If they say it's that horrible, I guess I wouldn't last long.
But I'm curious how would a deaf person handle this.

@HootyTheNightOwl This is what I wonder about. If the obliteration of all vibrations would make them uncomfortable to that extent as well. Probably yes. If you only hear and feel your own body and your nervous system only focuses on that, it could truly drive you insane. I already feel weird enough with fitting earplugs that make me hear my own heartbeat and internal processes. It feels nasty. 😅
@CrazyMusicLover Hearing damage may also play a part, too.
I mean, I have tinnitus out here in the real world... I don't expect that going in there will change that any, unless I'm somehow able to focus hard enough on what others say I should be hearing to make it a reality.

@HootyTheNightOwl It all would intensify. Although I can't judge or even imagine how other people perceive these things. I have misophonia so some sounds make me furious, truly insane. I also get irritated when my brain focuses on one thing and can't leave it alone. With sounds it's usually when I need to sleep but there are are haptic ones too. I'd be worried that with no external distractions from the environment, I'd start focusing on my body and get annoyed by various things, perceive them as wrong, like skin picking for example or suddenly feeling like my bite is wrong and some tooth is misaligned and I'd start poke at it until it hurts....
Wow, looks can certainly be deceiving! I’m sensing a major panic attack. 😳

I'd love to try it - although I have tinnitus - nothing is ever quiet for me
being · 36-40, F
I don't know if I could do it but I definitely want so badly to try now!!!

Given a cot and a comfy pillow it might be the perfect place for an extremely quiet nap. I think my mind could handle that.
I have been very quiet places. I love it.
Looks like there was never actually an challenge to stay in it, and that challenge and the prize is made up to get more people interested in the videos.

But yes, I believe a lot of people could and would do it for $5 million
Assuming they got a watch or a count down timer, or if people agreed to come get them out after an hour was up...
All you would have to do is find your inner peace, or your inner crazy and embrace your bodies own noises, and/or fall asleep

@sstronaut the video was about Microsoft's quiet room, not Orfield's. (Although I can't find any reliable source for them offering the challenge either.)
@NerdyPotato Thanks, but if there is some $5 million price for me just sitting somewhere for an hour, I want to take the challenge

thought my house was but I do hear birds,,
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
I watched a thing on it…hell no! I’m not even worried about going insane. It’s my tinnitus. That sound is maddening without at least a fan on in the quiet hours
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
I don't mind. I can probably indure just to prove I don't like being a human.
And then I'll donate most of the money. Keep 50.000 for myself.

Yes. Especially for five million.
NerdyPotato · M

That dudes not gonna be in there with me is he?
Bang5luts · M
I could do it. The thing about those challenges is I have yet to find a link where a person can actually apply to do the challenge
BlueGreenGrey · M
I'd certainly give it a shot, but I cannot actually confirm the rumor of a $5 million pirze anywhere
AllycatAD · 26-30
obviously that is serious sound baffling there
beermeplease · M

basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
