I sometimes miss the time before cell phones and internet. we needed each other more back then. also, people's entertainment was television and there were just a few chanels so when you went out you could talk about what was on t.v. the night before. movies were a treat and when we'd receive the t.v.guide we would look through it to see what was gonna be interesting that week and we would look forward to it. I suspect one of the reasons why so many people are depressed these days is because they live in an instant pleasure society so nothing is meaningful. when you have access to thousands of movie at your finger tips any time, movies become just something to kill 2 hours with. its the emptiness between stuff that makes stuff sacred, when you look forward to something you build up anthousiasm about it and this anthousiasm makes things precious and meaningful. I miss that emptiness that needed to be filled.
@reflectingmonkey That is so perceptive. Especially about movies.I did exactly the same thing yesterday,i had about 3 hours to kill so i just put on a long movie(Black hawk down),but just to pass an hour or two, rather than enjoy it for it own sake. I remember a time when going to watch a movie was a major event, and then you could only watch it again if it came back out or was on TV.Now movies are simply made for TV,and the studios are just turning out endless formulaic movies, endless "superhero"fantasy.Or runs of sequels like the JP series which are currently at 6.Star Wars is now just a cash cow, endless regurgitating of the same basic stuff..Everything that was once a treat is now there at the push of a computer button.
The year 2020, lol I can sympathize with those who were impacted negatively by the lockdown brought on by the pandemic. But for introverts like me, it was a dream come true. I miss it so much. 😂
3rd year of HS. It was so much fun and almost no stress. I guess it was the first year when I felt rather laid back despite having to go to school.
Then there are those first months in my first job when the work was fun, my manager was more than satisfied with me and the pay was awesome considering it was my very first job ever. Then sadly it was gradually going downhill.
Late 90s. Seems like it would've been a fun time to be a teenager or a college student. I was just a little kid then. I love the technology of the time, when the internet was just getting started.
I dont think im a 21st century person,i would have liked the 50s most. Everything was normal, people just got on with life instead of going around protesting and being offended by just EVERYTHING. It was exciting times by the look of it with new music like rock n roll etc. I hate the 21st century, far too many creeps and sickos about, all trying to be what they aint.
