I’m having death anxiety 😩

I have an appointment at the hospital next week and I’m getting anesthesia and I’m freaking out.

I know it’s probably not dangerous, but I’ve been having so many issues lately that it’s taking its toll on me.

I’ve also been having so many nightmares and strange dreams the last weeks, I feel like I’m not actually resting when I sleep..

I could need some prayers or something 🥺

@Cassieee well then if you have something to live for then get offa SW, here
Awhile ago I got an endoscopy and I was terrified of not waking up. Had panic attacks about it. Actually, I had it done twice. And both times, I was okay.

You will be okay, too. I promise. 🫂
I assume you're talking about general anesthesia. First, its very safe, with fewer than one death for every 200,000 to 300,000 anesthetic procedures performed[1] (and even lower with healthy people). Second, it's only prescribed if its to relieve a condition with worse likely outcomes. Medicine is always a choice between risks, and I'm gonna trust the medical establishment that they've properly evaluated your risks.

Understood, I'm not a fan of being put out but when needed it happens. I do try to focus on breathing deeply and being calm during the process. Im not sure if it is actually helping but it gives me a feeling of control and participation. Practice your breathing, muscle relaxation, and calming ahead of time and see if it helps you on the big day.
try and think positive thoughts. we all can have some anxiety. go into it thinking millions of people go through surgery or whatever procedure all the time.....when you wake up you'll say to yourself "wtf was i worried about 🤷" ....you'll be just fine. 🤗

Seems like you have anticipatory anxiety. If you've never had anesthesia before, it's not unlike drifting off to sleep.
