Body shaming is not more egregious than modesty shaming

People are allowed to not want to see your body revealed to the world, for as much as you are allowed to be proud of it.

What prompted this was seeing an Instagram pile on over a couple of women saying that they don't particularly enjoy seeing fully naked women in the gym changing rooms. They didn't say that it should be banned and they didn't shame any bodies. They just preferred the more modest approach. They were savaged in the comments for daring to oppress full on vagene displays.

While I can respect all points of view and do my best to accommodate peoples feelings, I do find it ironic that they chose to use Instagram to advertise their preference for modesty!

Not every act is a public display. I traditionally use changing rooms to wash and maintain my personal hygiene.
@SunshineGirl It was just a general conversation about things rather than a specific attack on a given theme. A range of topics can be discussed in such a scenario and I feel that people are entitled to dislike nudity in any context. It just becomes a question of how reasonable that is.

I personally find it creepy especially if they are doing this with seriousness instead of a joke, considering how often I use changing rooms. In healthcare there is not always the ability to stay modest in the changing room. They have to be staring at people.

Also since when is modesty related to changing rooms or bathrooms???

Not even in Islam, one of the most hardcore religions about modesty, are these spaces policed.

@Miram That last sentence is an excellent point.
