My girlfriend's mom tried to convince me that her bipolar, schizophrenic, drug-addicted, homeless son has psychic abilities and all the "psychic energy" that he's picking up is what's keeping him from getting his life together. It's all too overwhelming for him.

I don't want to p*ss her off because she's kinda like family at this point, but I tried really hard to emphasize that his refusal to take any psychiatric medication or get help for his substance abuse is just making his mental illnesses worse over time
