MrSmartyPants · 46-50, M
I think of it often, but haven't been there more than once in about 30 plus yrs.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@MrSmartyPants sometimes there are unforgettable places that could only remain in our memory.
MrSmartyPants · 46-50, M
@1sakuradoll08 Yeah .... that was where I felt most connected to sunrises .... the no need ever to see sunrises again kind of high quality sunrising viewings then .....:)
1sakuradoll08 · F
@MrSmartyPants yeah, we miss such things that only a great place can offer
I can recognize with that.
GoFish ·
i live in mine still .. if thats yours it looks cool. sorry about the bad memories whatever they were sigh
1sakuradoll08 · F
@GoFish Yeah. I love the place; it's very quiet and laid-back. It's like a ghost town at 8 p.m., meaning the streets are already empty.
You must adore your hometown; you never left!
I left when I was 18.

@1sakuradoll08 ah i hate it but everything is cheap here still so its a lack of money thing eh? lol
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I never left.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@CrazyMusicLover you love it there.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@1sakuradoll08 It has more to do with the fact that I'm not too fond of the idea of starting from zero and all alone with nobody to lean on. If I had a partner who would want to leave or found a good job securing regular, satisfying income elsewhere, I'd leave in a heartbeat.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@CrazyMusicLover understandable situation. At least you grow with familiar people & surroundings.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
It's been 6 years. I still think about it.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@Thevy29 we do that because it was a witness of our deeds growing up.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Nope. I have no desire to ever return to Florida.
MellyMel22 · F
Sorry for your loss..
I do, not real often though. My dad and friends I grew up with are all there.

1sakuradoll08 · F
@MellyMel22 You're glad to see them once in a while.
ninalanyon · 70-79, T
Rarely. I have no family there any more and the place is a pit anyway.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@ninalanyon good for you. Nobody encourages you to come back.
alongalone · M
No I live in the county below it for last 27 years ..went up there 10 years ago but no more since sis finally left 2 years ago ..it gives me anxiety being up there good riddance to it
1sakuradoll08 · F
@alongalone it's better to stay away from there if it causes anxiety.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
I moved back to my home town in November 2022. I miss the home where I was before as most of my married life and where I raised my children was in that house. We needed to move but this house has never felt like home like the other house did.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@PatientlyWaiting25 that's great that you're back home again. Familiar people and surroundings welcomed you with warmth.
1490wayb · 61-69, M
i couldnt wait to leave and 4 years later i returned to stay. there is less to do now than 40 years ago😟
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Nope. To crowded now. I grew up when it was barely a city. Lots of agriculture was still around. There's simply none of that left.
It's all buildings and houses. And the actual place, even the ground was removed for a apartment complex.

@DeWayfarer WOW! very long time! I was there in mine this January, celebrated New Year's there.
My first tine to visit the newest and biggest mall. The residential areas are still the same with vast fields around them.
Still nostalgic. I guess, I went there for the farewell.

@1sakuradoll08 Orange county got it's name from its very orange groves.
Now there simply isn't any type grove in the whole county.
It wasn't just the city. It was the whole county.

@DeWayfarer Oh sorry that they erased the significance of the place.
DearAmbellina2113 · 46-50, F
I stay as far away from my hometown as I possibly can.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I haven't been to my hometown since 1986. I took the love-of-my-life there to meet my family and see where I grew up. She dumped me the moment we got back here.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@hunkalove OMG...that's cruel!
sorry to hear that. Just because of seeing where you grew up, her love flew out of the window!

@1sakuradoll08 I think it had more to do with my family. Her family was important to her. We were apart for two years but got back together.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@hunkalove what a relief that you reconciled.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
I revisit every place I've ever lived on Google Earth. I have no interest in going to any of them anymore. The whole area around them is completely unrecognizable. Even the house I moved from to where I am now has been completely redone. It looks like they restructured the place. It had its own unique quaint appearance and they ruined it.
bijouxbroussard · F
Technically I eventually moved back to my hometown. I just live in a very different neighborhood here.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
I don't have to go back -- except for college and a couple of years rights after college I've lived in my home town for for close to 65 of my 76 years
Rabscuttle · 41-45
My hometown's back in Illinois- the state that dove so deeply into the madness that I had to flee before being driven out at gunpoint. I miss the people I left behind, but there's nothing left for me there but nightmarish flashbacks, destructive politics, and a hell of a sandwich shop.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
Yeah if the place in the photos is your home town, probably best not to move back cause eventually some data center will be dumped next to it like happens in too many rural areas.
I live in my hometown (it's a big city). The only thing keeping me here is that my bills are real cheap. No career, no friends, see my family only on holidays, Just nothing interesting.

@SunSetStrut those are the scenic spots in my hometown, it's the rice granary of my country.
no data centers yet but I guess it might happen soon.

As long as my parents were alive, I did. My friends from that remote rural area moved away. We’re still friends, mostly by phone and letters now.
I’m not a cemetery visitor. In my view my loved ones are not in those graves.

Kypro · 46-50, M
Where?
1sakuradoll08 · F
@Kypro Lol. I don't know your hometown.
Kypro · 46-50, M
@1sakuradoll08 it’s in ny
lissah · 41-45, F
I have no reason to go there
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
I think that once parents and other relatives no longer live there, reasons for going back are few.
1sakuradoll08 · F
@FreddieUK true. If there's no more connection, we won't come back anymore.
