We’re nice, simple, outdoorsy folk who like hockey and hotdish, as far as I’ve heard. lol Coming from outside, I would say the people here are noticeably friendlier and definitely more at home with the elements than where I came from. Everything seems to be embraced as a beloved culture even where it’s not particularly applicable. I think overall the reputation is earned.

It's windy here. Yeah, it often is.
People don't smile and customer service/staff is grumpy. Yup, correct.
People don't beat around the bush much and go straight to the point. Yes, it's true. Pleasantries might earn you a weird look, an impatient stare or an eyeroll.
People are cold and reserved to strangers and open, warm to the acquaintances and friends. It might appear that way, yeah.
Alcohol is a big part of the culture and traditions and many would think you're weird for rejecting it. Yes, especially the older folks outside the city.
People are more temperamental and crazy here than in other parts of the country. I really don't know.

I can tell you about where I last lived: bad drivers. Here, sometimes I'm too slow in the left lane, sometimes I'm too patient turning right on red, sometimes I take 2 excruciating seconds to notice the light is green! I'm think Quebec drivers don't deserve their rep.

Everyone farms or ranches - for me this is true for the most part
Everybody owns guns and hunts - Its a lot, its very common to see guns in trucks year round here and people carry in the open, but its not everyone.

People seem to assume Arizona is nothing but dead desert. There is actually a lot of desert foliage here and it's gorgeous.

Mostly normal retired people but as of lately there seems to be an increasing younger diverse culture of skeets moving into the neighborhood .

That our city is nothing but a sleepy, dull steel town. Thing is the stereotype is true.
If you lose something... you're never getting it back.
