I learned a while ago, never lend to friends or family. Either gift it or tell them to go to a bank and get a loan. If they have bad credit and can't get a loan, they certainly won't pay me back.

I'm a sucker. I would be a billionaire.

Couldn't tell you, because a lot of the "loans" were with the understanding of if and when you ever feel you can repay me. They were more a helping hand gift, without the recipient feeling like they were accepting charity or under some great pressure to repay. And yes, some were repaid and some were not. No harm, no foul. Ever once in a while I think of people in my struggling days who gave me a similar helping hand and think I should repay them, but neither of us can remember exactly how much it was.

it can work the other way sometimes.Way back I used to lend money to a guy I worked with. He was a gambler sometimes he paid me back if he won . But mostly I just sid forget it. He sadly died but to my surprise he left his property to me. It was like winning the lottery.lol

Haha you’re a smart cookie. However I’ve got a rather dumb heart that wins over my logic too often. I’m not sure of the exact amount, but I know I could vacation on the beach for a few weeks with it.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Not including my kids, probably $300 and most of it went to one former female friend I had several years ago. She was a piece of work on so many levels
Dethmoore · 31-35, M
Close to $500 from multiple people. People are really crappy. I thought people might be different, but they’re all the same.

When I load money I don’t really expect it to ever come back in my heart I think of it as a gift

I learned quickly that you don’t loan money to friends or family. Either give it to them or just say no.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Quetzalcoatlus Family was the only person that paid me back. But yes totally agreed with friends. What kills me is the way they avoid you

I don't lend people money, I either give it to them or don't give people money at all depending on the person.

DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F

boklenholley7 · F
tbh so much I'm embarrassed to say, but it is being paid back. Slowly.
NewRaven · 51-55, F
$0. I look at these as gifts as I figure they’ll never be repaid.
BizSuitStacy · M
Not much. I already know which of my friends and family are deadbeats.

£2000. Except I didn't lend it to anyone, it was stolen.
Colonelmustardseed · 36-40
Probably less than $100. I give more than loan out.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I would actually have about $2000.

About $5,000. But I've also gifted about that much.

$0 because I don’t loan money out
It's not just physical money, but things, time, and energy itself, sacrificing things from yourself to give to others, I estimate I'd have at least $150,000 in the bank, along with having a house full of nice furnishings and vehicle(s) in the garage.
