I used to talk with a "friend" for hours at a time when she was having problems with herself. I would actively listen to every word and detail, allowing me to find the right replies to her questions and statements. But when I would talk about something, even a short, positive statement which contained details, she would interrupt me and tell me to never tell her anything with details. She just didn't want to hear anything like that. I said, okay, and haven't talked with her since.
