No, it was instilled into me from the early childhood that it's wrong for several reasons. I never needed it, so there was no reason for me to do it. I saw it as low and embarrassing and looked down on kids who did it. I mean...I thought that if they stole in shops who knows what else they stole from whom...

When I was about 8 years old, I pocketed a nickel piece of candy. My father discovered the crime and drove me all the way back to the store and made me confess to the manager. I have never been tempted to shoplift again.

I was in kindergarten. My mother would sometimes tell me during one of her neurotic anger episodes to go get it myself if I'm so clever. So I just went in one day to a store to steal a stationery item my parents wouldn't buy for me. Because I wanted to prove to her that I'm so clever, to gain her approval.

I once stole gum and a couple chocolate bars when I was 13.

As a small kid, maybe 3 or 4; I stole a fuse from a hardware store. I didn't really know I was stealing at the time. When we got home and my dad saw it, he asked where I got it. He drug me by my arm to the truck, drove me back to the store and made me return it and apologize to the man. Then took me back home whipped the hell out of me.
I never stole again.

We were rly poor, so I used to steal a lot of stuff when I was younger. I grew out of it, and always try my best to meet my sons needs so he never feels the need to steal how I did.
