My grandma trying to comfort me lmao

The scent of biryani.
It makes me feel like I need to reactivate my gym membership.

Coffee. Makes me remember my childhood and the cattle ranch.

Coming home from school and smelling mom's homemade bread 🍞 😋 😊

It reminds me of fond memories of my mom who passed away 4 years ago.

Fresh cut hay mixed with dust and diesel fumes. We baled square bales, almost no one does that here now. When you started up the baler always needed a bit of fine tuning to make sure the knotters were tying properly and the tension on the strings was right and I spent a lot of time walking behind the baler and watching it work. There's an unmistakable sound to those old square balers as the plunger comes back packing the hay into the chamber and the tractor engine loads up a dozen or so times before it trips, ties off, and starts the next bale.
It's been a very long time now, the field where I spent so much time walking behind that baler and where I later learned to drive was planted in pines so long ago that those trees have now been cut. My sense of smell now comes and goes so I'm lucky if I smell hay anywhere. I guess I'm getting old.

Jasmine.
Just random stuff. Our little garden. That we never took care of. Where roses would bloom every year. And jasmines filled the air with their scent at night. Sweet sweet stress relievers. When ignorance was bliss.

1. Pine needles on Christmas Eve - I'm transported to a place of wonder and pure enchantment.


2. Aroma of coffee and jet fuel, mixed in the AC --- flying to see relatives:

For this six year old, an odyssey of otherwordly proportions began at the boarding gate. A silver Phoenix, waiting before him.
Summoned by its every beckon call, the cry of mighty engines drew me on.

In time, my world fell away; exchanged for castles in cloud and palisades of white.

Boiling beetroot reminds me of my grandmother. A greenhouse full of tomatoes reminds me of my grandfather.

A typical body lotion which my gran used on her body .Its rare to even find that one these days .

My Grandparent's home. It was a distinct scent that always had mash potatoes and gravy understones.

Pine tree. Brings me back to camping in Lake George NY when I was young.

Fresh baked bread 🍞. Comfort of my grandmothers kitchen .

Roast pork. My Mum used to cook a pork joint on the Christmas eve to serve the next day. The smell would permeate our flat/apartment throughout the evening,
Every time I smell roast pork, I think of those Christmases and feel safe and loved.

gardenias it reminds me of my grandmother's backyard. it makes me feel comforted because i am very fond of her and that particular smell

diesel it reminds me of my grandpas truck. it reminds me of him it makes me feel happy

White Transparent Appels which were eatable in early May and peaches , when you stand in front of the tree before getting the fruit the scent is amazing. Due to climate change such things are gone.

When I was a wee lad in the summer the windows would be open all night and in the morning my bedroom would be full of the sweet smell of clover. The clover grew right under my window.

Wintergreen oil, Gran used it for her pains. Fresh wood shavings my Dad's hobby was furniture maker from reclaimed redwood. We'd toss in the garden I'd sweep it...

When I go back to NZ, where I grew up, I always buy Coruba rum, my favourite which is cheap there. When I spring for it here, its rich aroma puts me in mind of NZ.

Honeysuckle. It was all around outside our house and smelled great. Whenever I see it on my walks, I have to stop and smell the honeysuckle.

Vinyl beach toys. Brings back memories of summer, the pool and beach. The family
It takes me back instantly and it feels great.

Lionel Christmas tree smoke fluid reminds me of my uncle’s basement and running model trains

4 o'clocks. My grandmother had them growing in her yard.
I always loved the aroma. They make me feel nostalgic.

April fresh downy it reminds me of my childhood when my mom hang laundry outside

Not exactly my childhood but Tabu perfume reminds me of my first girlfriend

The laundry detergent my mom used to wash my blankie.

The Ocean.

Reminds me of a general feeling of happiness

Pages of comic books bring back good memories

The smell of the pickle factory across the street

Crayons, they have an unmistakable smell

Shalimar perfume. Reminds me of my favorite aunt, my mother’s older sister. I wanted to be like her so much, she was so elegant and she had the best voice, almost musical. She was the only person I’ve ever known who could make a N’awlin’s accent sound [b]cultured[/b].

Mustard greens cooking. I smell that and I’m back in my grandmother’s kitchen.

Sandalwood. There was always sandalwood soap in the house.

Airport smell ..reminds me of the times I used to visit my grandparents in NYC
