Is it just me or do sites like kalshi feel dystopian?

Like how it encourages people to gamble because we’ve given up on the economy and the idea that working one or two jobs will give you economic freedom.

Obviously I know *about* kalshi ... but I've never actually ever looked at it. I'm too busy working. 🤷‍♀

I don't gamble, but I'm amazed at the number of gambling websites that are advertising on TV and the internet

Interesting Netflix documentary on this subject, "Instadocs: The Prediction Games.”

And how we've also just given up on the rule of law by allowing them to claim they aren't gambling and regulators being okay with that.

Basics thing I think is everything is for sale these days... Including your soul...

@Degbeme I'm far from expert on this stuff, Degs. But basically its a site where you can bet on almost anything. Like bet on the outcome of votes in Alberta or the success of the next SpaceX launch or the outcome of the Ukraine war.

@sarabee1995 Thank you for this. Not a site for me then, I don`t bet on anything. I`m way too cheap. 🤭

@Degbeme Lol, you and me both. 👍

There was a case I think a year ago of a prediction market for wildfires. Gambling on how many acres would be burned and that kind of thing. I think it was Polymarket that also included gambling on the situation in Gaza.
