Does anyone else spend hours and sometimes days rehearsing all of the possible outcomes of a decision that you need to make

Sometimes I’ll spend hours going through all of the possible responses and scenarios I can think of before deciding whether take action.

I play detailed narratives in my head of all sides of a conversation or of the penalties and consequences
After reviewing every possible response and rehearsing how I should react and what I should say, after considering all of this I make a decision and….
It generates a completely new and different response than anything I had considered!!

I found out that its a form of OCD when i did that so i dont do it anymore. In my head it was just critical thinking and trying to be thorough when in actuality i was obsessing over things turning it over and over knowing full well that i cannot change an outcome by doing it.

Terrible way to live. It's good to be prepared for outcomes and not being blind of them, but you can't possibly know everyone and life is always going to throw you a curve ball so you can kinda have to flow with life, and it's willingness to throw anything your way. Next, you will be calculating the number of heartbeats you have left.
