What is your favorite quote that sums up your entire life, and people will share at your funeral?

Top | New | Old
I am not going to have a funeral because only a handful of people have ever known me, and I don't want the family left behind to have the expense of a funeral. If I did have a quote, I would hope to describe my life, it would be this one.

Pretzel · 70-79, M
doesn't sum up my life but

Do not stand
By my grave, and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep—
I am the thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle, autumn rain.
As you awake with morning's hush,
I am the swift, up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the day transcending night.
Do not stand
By my grave, and cry—
I am not there,
I did not die.

We all have bumps in the road. It’s how we ride those bumps though that determines our view of the journey (of life).

No two things are the same.

Life is change.

Yet more than that:

Everything changes, including rates of change.

My rate of change has slowed down tremendously now.

So slow now, that in a blink, I will no longer be a thought by anything. 😔

@MasochisticBallerina I used to share a flat in London with 3 ballet students - I know how masochistic you have to be to succeed!

Taken from a Japanese death poem.

'I long for people, then again I loathe them, end of Autumn'.

This about sums me up.

Geesh I hope I'm not that self centered.

The ending of the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

“ I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

Good ol' “si vis pacem, para bellum
Elessar · 31-35, M
@helenS But in my case it's figurative; I interpret it as "if you want peace, prepare for hardships"
helenS · 36-40, F
@Elessar The idea that disarmament will lead to peace has been disproved, unfortunately. It's sad. Thank you, Russia 😕
Elessar · 31-35, M
@helenS Yeah non figuratively that proverb has sense too. Russia owns a lot of western parties, I think most people will remember only when it'll be too late to do anything (again)
