I'm literally living off Amazon. Food included. I've got my fair share of shipping savings even though I admit there are items I could purchase for less locally. There are also some only available online. I occasionally order a local grocery delivery for the fridge and freezer. I don't get out and don't care to unless it's absolutely necessary like the doctor appointment or the pharmacy which are in the same building and less than a ten minute trip. I might hit McDonald's for a large vanilla shake and fries on those days for a treat and big booster shot of insulin.

Probably once a month. I bought a study Bible similar to my own for my sister, and some kind of hydrating stuff for my lips since I’m a mouth breather now and chapstick alone isn’t working.

@Monday40 Doesn’t work for me.

@Colonelmustardseed I’m sorry, how about blistex?

@Monday40 Nope. None of them.

I’ve been ordering off of Amazon and Temu frequently. Bought the boy a metal detector from Amazon, medical supplies for me from Amazon, a solar-crank emergency radio with a compass, thermometer, light, am-fm channels and a weather band (got it today), a solar phone & I-pad charger, and some other items. I’ve bought supplements and gluten free items on Amazon too. I put in orders online for pickup at Walmart, saves me from having to go all over the store to pick things up and I don’t have to do any heavy lifting this way either.
@cherokeepatti That's awesome! So what is Temu and what do you buy there?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Motzu tell me how much of what is sold in the USA is not made in China…go ahead.
Purchase groceries online for delivery about twice a month.
@OlderSometimesWiser Good deal. Does that work well for you? Do you ever get bad food?
@Musicman Works great for me. I joined Walmart Plus. Hundred bucks a year gives me unlimited free grocery delivery plus free shipping on most items. On any given grocery delivery, there’s usually an item or two that’s not available but they can often get me my chosen substitution. Occasionally I get a bad food item, usually in the form of damage or a beyond expiration date. But their customer service is great. Usually get a refund without having to return the item to the store. Plus sometimes also get a five or ten dollar promotion code to use on a future purchase. Overall been very happy and grateful for the service.
@OlderSometimesWiser That's great news 🙂🙂🙂

All the time. I buy cleaning supplies cheap from a restaurant supply site, and I get the supplies I need for my Mom's care in bulk from either WalMart or Amazon, whichever is cheaper. I also get some hard-to-find grocery items that I don't have the time to run from store to store in search of.
My last order was for two cases of disposable gloves from the restaurant supply site.

@AbbeyRhode That sounds like it is really working well for you. Good deal. 🙂
AbbeyRhode · F
@Musicman Yep, I've been doing it for about 5 years now, so I've gotten good at tracking down the best prices. :)
@AbbeyRhode Good for you! 🙂

Rarely.
The only item I bought this year is a top of the range Lenovo laptop.
I live nearby a large shopping centre which has everything from clothes to electronics to furniture to groceries.
I love driving and I prefer to checkout things myself.

@NativePortlander1970 We have a huge mall here too, but it's about 24 miles away.
@Musicman When the Penny's and Younker's anchor stores closed at our local mall, the rest of the satellites left as well within a year.

I don't buy merchandise online very often, but it comes in handy for hard to find items, or you want to find the best deal on things. Last thing I bought was a replacement for a failed IC chip on my washing machine.
BizSuitStacy · M
@Musicman fantastic. I always get a lot of satisfaction fixing things myself...especially when you know a repairman will tell you it's beyond repair.
@BizSuitStacy The old one had been going bad for a while. It finally died on us. The dealer wanted $2800 plus $400 labor to install it. I can get one on Amazon for $2000. I figure for a straight one for one replacement I can do that myself. 🙂

@Musicman 👍

Often, almost daily. Last purchase was printer ink.

I shop online quite often, Amazon and eBay. But it has been a little while. The last thing I remember purchasing online was a cellphone from Walmart in the spring. I ended up giving it to a friend for her son and buying a new one in-store. Aside from that, I guess you can count food that I have ordered online.
I just ordered food from.a place and picked it up; I'm not sure that technically counts. yesterday I got some various things I'd ordered from amazon.

Maybe once a month. I just ordered a book, James Bond Bedside Reader. Should be here in a few days. I've had pretty good luck with it
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@Musicman this was on Amazon. Never heard of it but it was only $10
@JohnnyNoir Let us know how it goes.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@Musicman will do
MMarco · 36-40, M
Quite often. The last thing I purchased online was The Forgotten Prisoner of Castel Mare model kit. By Atlantis.
minxy · 46-50, F
Maybe twice a year.
Last thing was one of those diamond art kits.
I wanted to see if I'd enjoy doing that sort of thing, I didn't.

Almost never. Mostly just tickets for trains and shows. I think the last thing I bought were contact lenses though.

I buy from Amazon at least once a week. My last purchase was a large heating pad.

Frequently. Most recent was a cheap pair of blue-light glasses that I wanted to try to help with eye strain cause I've been working a lot in front of a computer. Helps with sleeping too. In theory. Seems to.

Very often.
I most recently purchased a Power Ball 2.0 cat toy.

A few times a month; trying to cut back
@Moneyonmymind I can easily understand the cutting back.
@NativePortlander1970 That is so true. ☹ Everything is made to wear out and be replaced to keep profits up.
@Musicman In 1992 I took a two week electronics class at the local community college so I could get hired on as an audio/video tech apprentice at a Portland repair shop, but discovered I'm red/green, so I got disqualified. Back then everything lasted.
@NativePortlander1970 Yes it did.
