Grass seems greener over there

Someone's comment on a recent post of mine made me reflect on my need for others. 'Belonging' is a basic human need. As much as we may try to convince ourselves that we'll be fine on our own island, connection is needed.

How do I deal with this balance when I find most of the people around me reprehensible? Like, I want to hangout with people, but dislike most everyone I know. They aren't bad people really... just annoying in large doses.

Where do I find my people?... or are all of "my people" alone just like me?

Ever since humans evolved into tribal structures, we have ended up fighting to obtain more territory. Unfortunately, those who succeeded ended up dominating the human genome, so with the need to group, comes the need to keep others out, and fear those not like us.
