Am I lazy?

I have reached a point in career where i earn decently and have more scope for growth and learning and improving my designation. I however feel lethargic to do anything but at the same time, looking at my colleagues accomplishments, i feel i should be working hard too. I simply procrastinate signing up any workshop and just while away time

Ever read The Peter Principle? If you are satisfied with your job, your income, your career and are good at it, why continue to pursue climbing the peak until you have exceeded your capabilities or interests? Only a lot of stress and unhappiness in doing that, just to satisfy what society says should be your goals. A lot of truth in the aphorism "find a job you like, and you will never work a day in your life". If your financial needs are being met, take pride in a job well done rather than how high you have climbed.

@dancingtongue I do like writing books and some other hobbies too and have been constantly told that they dont generate any income and are a waste of time. Taking your advise, i should really introspect the limit of my capabilities and just stay content with the current reach of my work. Thanks for the insight, really appreciate it😀

@Tellmeaboutyourself You're welcome. For the record, I turned down a career move that would have put me on the top executive floor and probably set me up for a VP position. Later I actually was a finalist for the VP position and recommended a colleague for the position. Retired early to write -- and did, but for my own and my family's enjoyment rather than to be published. Two of my former employees have published books; going to the launch for one's second book this weekend. But from what I see these days, unless you have a big name, it is mostly an updated digital form of self-publishing where you have to do a lot of the networking and marketing on your own if you want to sell anything. But nothing wrong with writing for the enjoyment of just writing, imho. 😋

@dancingtongue Yes, I have seen few of my friends struggling to find a good publishing dept for their books and said that public marketing expenditure is costing them a lot, so it is more of a luck factor as intially we need to invest in it a lot. And nothing wrong in making a decision which includes quality time with family and oneself as in the end nothing else matters. Hope you have a good day 😊
